Val is a hands-on business owner and presides over all aspects of the company with a focus on strategic and long-term goals, growth and profits. Through her leadership and perseverance, Val continues to emphasize the company’s purpose of delivering reliable, premium-quality service while changing lives through recognition, respect and inspiration.

Brian started in the industry as a utility technician in 1984 and has spent the last 42+ years of his career in various management and leadership roles, providing janitorial services to several large facilities throughout Northern California and Nevada. His portfolio included high-profile sites such as the Franchise Tax Board and Cal EPA—each spanning over a million square feet—where he consistently delivered operational excellence and client satisfaction.

As I look back on my fifty years in the Contract Security Industry I have been blessed! My career has included Security Operations, Security Programs, Security Education and Security Management. I have always been dedicated to the mitigation of security risk for companies operating in California. I started in the security industry in 1976

As I look back on my fifty years in the Contract Security Industry I have been blessed! My career has included Security Operations, Security Programs, Security Education and Security Management. I have always been dedicated to the mitigation of security risk for companies operating in California. I started in the security industry in 1976 during college and have founded, led and successfully grown many well-known security brands in the Sacramento area since then. I have met and worked with some very talented people!
 

As a previous founder / owner of SmartGuard my individual brand was synonymous with the company’s. Many of my client relationships reflect decades of trust placed in me individually and in the teams I have led. It also helped that I have deep knowledge of the security industry. I am a past President of CALSAGA, held many leadership positions in the local ASIS International chapter as well as the Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers Board.

In 2026 I am once again blessed with working with fantastic people and friends! The incredibly successful team of Val Sherman and Brian Baltzley from United Building Maintenance and I are providing security services through our brand Full Service Security, Inc. or FSSI as we like to call it.  Providing concierge security service for the Property and Facility Management industry in Northern California. We are coupled with United to provide strong mitigation of risk as well as building maintenance services!  With the addition of Darin Marino to the United Team, our 2026 is looking fantastic!

Todd served in the U.S. Air Force, where he discovered his passion for security. After completing his military service, he transitioned to the private sector, quickly advancing from patrol officer to leadership roles such as Patrol Captain, Manager, and Operations Manager. His strong commitment to service excellence and operational efficiency has made him a trusted leader in the security industry.
