Founder and CEO, Valerie Sherman, started in the janitorial commercial cleaning industry in 1978 in her home state of Michigan as a carpet cleaner. She worked her way up through several leadership roles until she decided to venture out on her own in 2002 and is now expanding into the security division.  

Val is a hands-on business owner and presides over all aspects of the company with a focus on strategic and long-term goals, growth and profits. Through her leadership and perseverance, Val continues to emphasize the company’s purpose of delivering reliable, premium-quality service while changing lives through recognition, respect and inspiration.

Brian Baltzley is co-owner and COO of United Building Maintenance. Brian oversees the day-to-day activities of the company, ensuring that the organization is managed and performing efficiently and effectively.  

Brian started in the industry as a utility technician in 1984 and has spent the last 42+ years of his career in various management and leadership roles, providing janitorial services to several large facilities throughout Northern California and Nevada. His portfolio included high-profile sites such as the Franchise Tax Board and Cal EPA—each spanning over a million square feet—where he consistently delivered operational excellence and client satisfaction.

Mark Thomas will be assigned Principal of Record. Mark is a seasoned security executive and former U.S. Marine with over 40 years of experience in law enforcement and private security. He began his career in the Marine Corps’ Criminal Investigations Division and later managed classified defense programs at Boeing. 

As founder of The Aware Security Group, he has led major security operations for federal agencies, banks, and commercial clients. As a recognized leader in the field, he has served on multiple industry boards, including ASIS and CALSAGA, and remains actively engaged in policy advisory and community leadership roles.

Todd Lee is a seasoned security professional with over 30 years of experience in leading operations for commercial and industrial properties. As Operations Manager for Full Service Security, Inc., he oversees security operations, including team leadership, client relations, risk management, compliance, reporting, and resource planning. Todd served in the U.S. Air Force, where he discovered his passion for security. After completing his military service, he transitioned to the private sector, quickly advancing from patrol officer to leadership roles such as Patrol Captain, Manager, and Operations Manager. His strong commitment to service excellence and operational efficiency has made him a trusted leader in the security industry.
